A staff member at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution was seriously injured Thursday after being assault by an inmate.
A spokesperson for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says while conducting an exchange of state property in restrictive housing, the inmate reached through the door hatch, grabbed the staff member’s arm, and attempted to pull it into the cell.
The staff member sustained a broken wrist and arm lacerations. An investigation of the incident has been launched. Findings will be provided to the county attorney for determination of criminal prosecution.
The NDCS disciplinary process will be utilized with sanctions such as loss of good time, applied according to the rules and regulations.
