Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect For Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Apr 15, 2026 | 1:40 PM

The National Weather Service has issued a severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of eastern Nebraska, including Lincoln and Lancaster County until 7:00 Wednesday night.   “We’re looking for scattered hail, but it could be significant and wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour,”  says NWS Meteorologist Chris Franks.

While the tornado threat is low, Franks says one or two can’t be completely ruled out.   He urges residents to stay alert and to implement their severe weather plan so they know what to do if a storm hits.

There was a severe thunderstorm warning issued for northwestern Lancaster and surrounding counties around 1:20 this afternoon.  That storm produced large hail and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.
