A former University of Nebraska women’s basketball assistant coach has admitted under oath to a sexual relationship with former player Ashley Scoggin, according to new court filings in Scoggin’s ongoing federal lawsuit against the coach and the university.
According to documents first reported by USA Today Sports, former assistant coach Chuck Love made the admission during a February deposition, reversing an earlier denial filed in 2024.
Scoggin sued Love and the university in 2024, alleging she was groomed into the relationship and later removed from the team after it was discovered during a 2022 road trip. She expanded the lawsuit in February to add two additional university officials, alleging failures in how her case was handled under Title IX.
Nebraska has denied wrongdoing and defended Scoggin’s removal from the team.
The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. No trial date has been set.
