Two longtime faith-based Lincoln nonprofits, Youth for Christ Lincoln and City Impact, have merged in a move leaders say will expand outreach and improve efficiency in serving local youth and families.

Under the agreement announced Friday, Youth for Christ will serve as the parent organization, while City Impact will continue operating as a program division, maintaining its existing initiatives such as the “Gifts of Love” holiday program, literacy efforts and youth outreach in the Clinton-Hartley neighborhood.

Matt Schulte, a Lancaster County Commissioner and Executive Director of YFC, says the merger combines decades of experience, as Youth for Christ has operated in Lincoln since 1969 and City Impact for about 30 years, and will allow for better coordination of services across age groups.

“By coming together, we get to create some continuity,” said Schulte on this weeks episode of Grow Lincoln, noting younger participants in City Impact programs can transition into middle and high school programming.

The organizations also expect operational efficiencies by sharing resources such as administrative services and facilities, while expanding their physical presence near 33rd and Vine to better reach youth in the area.

A ribbon-cutting and press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, at City Impact, 1035 N. 33rd St., with tours and refreshments to follow.
