By Tom Stanton Jun 6, 2026 | 9:51 AM

Lincoln Police say one person was killed in a crash in north Lincoln early Saturday morning. LPD says officers and LFR crews were notified about a vehicle fire in a parking lot northwest of 56th and Cornhusker Highway around 1:40 a.m.

LPD says when first responders arrived in the area they found a vehicle that was upside down, fully engulfed in flames. Based on preliminary investigation, police say it appears the vehicle was traveling southbound on 56th St from Fletcher when it left the west side of the roadway.

The vehicle then struck a light pole in a parking lot, causing the vehicle to flip upside down and catch fire. After LFR crews put out the fire, one person was found dead inside the vehicle. Investigators with the LPD are still working to identify the occupant and notify relatives.

The investigation is ongoing.
