Who wants to live forever? According to Business Insider, an reverse aging drug was tested on a human for the first time ever just this morning.
The drug isn’t intended to make the person younger. They’re testing if it can reprogram older cells in a specific organ. In this case, they injected it right into the patient’s eye….. because they have glaucoma. Researchers will be monitoring it for the next 6 months to see what happens.
Life Biosciences is the company doing today’s test, but other companies aren’t very far behind.
One of the major problems they’ve run into when testing with mice is cancer. If the reprogramming of cells isn’t spot on, it can trigger tumor growth. But ultimately, the hope is to extend lives and cure diseases.
Speaking of, here’s an interesting mental exercise. Look at the people around you right now. Are there any of them that you would want to live forever? Are there any you wouldn’t? And ask yourself why to either of those answers.
