LINCOLN, Neb. — Lincoln Transportation and Utilities (LTU) has announced several upcoming street closures, including a two-week closure of 48th Street for pavement repairs.
Beginning Wednesday, June 17, 48th Street between Adams Street and Cornhusker Highway will be closed to traffic. The closure is expected to remain in place until Wednesday, July 1.
During the project, northbound traffic will be detoured via Adams Street and Cornhusker Highway. Southbound traffic will be directed to use Superior Street/Havelock Avenue and Touzalin Avenue.
LTU is also reporting two additional traffic impacts beginning the week of June 15:
- A southbound lane closure on 56th Street from Vavak Place to Elkcrest Drive beginning Monday, June 15, for utility work. The lane is expected to reopen Tuesday, June 16.
- A temporary closure of 22nd Street between U and T streets from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, for a special event.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, use alternate routes when possible, and exercise caution near construction and event areas.
LTU notes that project schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Current street closure information is available through the City of Lincoln’s street closure website and the Waze mobile app.
