You’ll have to forgive me for being super excited about this. Everyone knows I do a lot of cycling around Lincoln and there’s a new bicycle coming out that will be smarter than computers we had 10 years ago.
It looks like a hybrid with thick tires AND…….. built in artificial intelligence, radar, tiny cameras, and a display built into the handle bars.
It can sense obstacles and danger all around the rider and warn him with flashing lights on the handle bars and even strong vibrations. It can tell you how far they are and even guess where things like moving cars are going to be.
This bike is smart enough to look at upcoming curves and turns then let you know the best speed to take them at.
I want one because it knows when drivers are coming up behind you, which is the scariest part of cycling for me. So many cars have come around me really fast and really close. A couple have actually tapped me while I was riding. Luckily, I’ve been riding long enough that I was able to not get knocked into the road.
And, it’s a good looking. These bikes, called Canyon Predict, aren’t available to the public, so I don’t know the cost. But I will be watching. I haven’t bought a new bike in over 20 years. Please don’t cost as much as a car. Please don’t!
