Martell Man Accused of Setting Ex-Wife’s House on Fire

By Tom Stanton Jul 6, 2026 | 5:03 PM

A Martell man has been arrested in connection with a house fire that investigators say was intentionally set in Lancaster County late last year. LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says 38-year-old Trevor Wagner was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree arson following a months-long investigation into a 2025 fire.

According to investigators, the incident happened on Dec. 3 when Wagner allegedly attempted to start a fire in a dryer vent on the outside of a home belonging to his ex-wife.  The homeowner told deputies she woke up after smelling smoke and discovered Wagner allegedly trying to set the house on fire. Authorities say he fled the scene shortly afterward.

Deputies responded to the home around 3:15 a.m. that day and determined the fire caused an estimated $8,000 in damage to the home. Houchin credited investigators for their persistence in solving the case. “Our investigators have done a great job. A lot of investigative leads, they did a lot of search warrants and they did make an arrest,” Houchin says.

Following the investigation, deputies identified Wagner as the suspect and took him into custody. He was booked for first-degree arson. The case will be forwarded to prosecutors for review.
