Severe Weather Possible Wednesday Night in Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Jul 8, 2026 | 11:24 AM

Severe thunderstorms are possible in Lincoln a tonight as a cold front moves through the region. “Storms are going to get near the Lincoln area closer to that 10:00 to 11:00 time period,” says National Weather Service Meteorologist Dike Petersen.

He says one or two of the stronger storms could produce damaging wind gusts and hail, along with brief heavy downpours. Wind gusts could top 60 miles per hour in isolated areas. Petersen tells KLIN News the storms should move quickly enough to limit any local flooding concerns.

Thursday is expected to be much quieter, with most shower and thunderstorm activity staying west of the area and only a slight chance for an early morning sprinkle. After the front passes, temperatures will remain in the 80s for a few days before climbing back into the 90s by Sunday and potentially reaching the mid to upper 90s by the middle of next week.
