The Good Government Lincoln Project says it is restarting its petition drive for three proposed amendments to the Lincoln City Charter after raising concerns about the status of its previously submitted signatures.
The group announced it will begin collecting signatures again immediately in an effort to qualify all three measures for the November ballot. “There is nothing in the numbers, and nothing in the history of success of the people involved in this effort, that explains why our opponents seem to know something we don’t,” says Jessica Flanagain, Axiom Strategies Partner and consultant to the Good Government Lincoln Project.
“One of two things happened: either our opponents have sabotaged this effort and used unethical tactics to keep these measures off voters’ ballots, or election information has been shared unevenly.”
The group did not provide evidence supporting those allegations. Petition sponsor Tony Fulton says the group wants voters to have the opportunity to decide the proposed charter amendments at the ballot box.
The Good Government Lincoln Project says it will begin gathering signatures again immediately while awaiting further information on the original petition submission.
