Lincoln residents can find information about emotional wellbeing at their local library, thanks to a new partnership between the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department and Lincoln City Libraries.
The two organizations are highlighting the 6 Pillars for Emotional Wellbeing, a community initiative designed to support emotional health and resilience for children, families and the community. Through August, the focus is Physical Activity, encouraging people to move their bodies as a way to boost wellbeing, reduce stress and improve emotional health.
Libraries are featuring book collections, displays and other resources tied to physical activity and the 6 Pillars initiative. Library Director Ryan Wieber says libraries are natural places to promote resources that help people learn, connect and grow.
“This partnership builds on that role by helping connect community members with resources that support emotional wellbeing in practical, accessible ways.” The other pillars are Nutrition and Hydration, Quieting, Relational Connectedness, Mastery and Sleep.
“Emotional wellbeing grows from the small, everyday things we do,” says Health Director Kerry Kernen. “The 6 Pillars are areas of daily life where even small changes can make a difference in how we think, feel, and connect with others.”
The libraries and Health Department will highlight a different pillar every other month, with Relational Connectedness scheduled as the focus for September and October.
