A North Dakota man sought in connection with an investigation in Fargo was arrested Tuesday morning after a pursuit on Interstate 80 through the Lincoln area reached speeds above 100 mph, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. Brandon George, 42, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was taken into custody near Ashland and booked into Lancaster County Jail.
The patrol said it was notified shortly before 8:40 a.m. that Milford police were pursuing a vehicle believed to be connected to the Fargo Police Department’s investigation. The pursuit moved east onto I-80, where a trooper joined near mile marker 388.
Troopers took the lead in the pursuit as the Toyota Camry continued east through the Lincoln area. The patrol’s AirWing tracked the vehicle from above, while Lancaster County deputies and additional troopers joined the pursuit. Near Waverly, George allegedly drove onto the shoulder toward a trooper who was attempting to deploy stop sticks.
Troopers successfully deployed stop sticks a short time later. The Camry exited I-80 at the Ashland interchange and stopped, but George refused commands to leave the vehicle for several minutes, according to the patrol. He exited shortly after 9:10 a.m. and was arrested without further incident.
The patrol listed local charges of willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, attempted commission of a Class I felony and terroristic threats. NSP investigators are working with Fargo police on the ongoing investigation; the release did not describe that case.
The Lancaster, Seward and Cass county sheriff’s offices, along with Lincoln and Milford police, assisted in the pursuit. The patrol did not report any injuries.
