The Lincoln Police Department says this year’s ‘Coffee With a Cop’ community events on Wednesday was very successful, with strong attendance and plenty of opportunities for residents to talk with officers in a relaxed setting.
LPD Captain Max Hubka says nearly every table was filled at the Hy-Vee at 50th and ‘O’, with many there taking time to visit with officers. “A lot of the people this year are saying, we came specifically for this, to actually speak with the officers, and kind of have those social interactions that are not so rigid or not so adversarial sometimes.”
Hubka says many of the conversations focused on traffic concerns, including noise complaints and loud vehicles. He tells KLIN News residents have several ways to report problems, including calling dispatch, using the UPLNK app or contacting police through social media.
“We can’t address concerns if we don’t know about them. And we can’t be everywhere all the time. So, just let us know what issues you’re dealing with.” Those stopping by to chat with officers got to enjoy free donuts. There were four ‘Coffee With a Cop’ events in each part of the city on Wednesday morning.
