Lincoln Police arrested an 18-year-old woman after investigators say she intentionally drove a car toward a man during a disturbance early Wednesday morning. Police were called to 23rd and ‘D’ streets around 1:15 a.m. after a 2015 Chevy Malibu crashed into an apartment building.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the incident began when a 19-year-old man asked two women to leave his apartment. “A verbal confrontation followed and continued into the parking lot.”
Thomas says 18-year-old Amya Ochoa of Lincoln got behind the wheel of the Malibu and accelerated toward the man multiple times, striking the building, metal railings and another vehicle. “Fortunately, the victim was not injured.”
Thomas says the Malibu eventually became stuck on a retaining wall. Police say Ochoa and the other woman got out of the vehicle and ran from the area. Officers located Ochoa later Wednesday and arrested her.
She was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for attempted second-degree assault and cited twice for criminal mischief.
