Americans are being Covid cautious this holiday season. Many will require testing before turkey.

A new survey shows that even with vaccinations and masks, 72% of the people polled say they plan on spending the holidays with just immediate family members.

Jenny and I have told our families that we won’t be there for Thanksgiving because of my health and the whole having problems breathing thing. We simply don’t want to take the chance I could get Covid or any other kind of respiratory virus that could make it deadly. Our families understand. Besides, I’m not sure any of they would be serving the mashed potatoes with green chili sauce that Jenny and I have come to love in the last week.

Also in this poll, half said they would ask guests to wear masks and ask about the vaccination status of guests. I can see that starting a bunch of arguments before the wine flows. 46% of the respondents said that they will require a negative test before being allowed to attend.

How would you even enforce that? Do you put a bouncer out on the front steps to check vaccination cards? “Oh, sorry Aunt Linda and Uncle Jeff. Looks like your 12 year old Jenny only has one shot. Looks like you’re going to have to pack up the mini van and drive back to Tulsa.”
