I had mentioned last year that Elon Musk wants to put microchips in people’s heads. And it was one of those, “Ha, ha! Sounds fun because it’ll never happen.”
Apparently I was wrong. He was part of a streamed summit between him and other captains of industry the other day and he said it’s on the way within a year. So, “Eh, ha, ha?”
They’ve tested it on monkeys and have supposedly had great results. I don’t know what they were testing for exactly or what those great results entailed. He mentioned that one monkey was able to play Pong using only its mind. Literally doing it telepathically! Which kind of scares me. I mean, Monkey Mind Control sounds like a funny premise……. Until they have you using your feet to personally peel bananas for them.
Monkeys aside, Elon does have a good reason for chips in human brains. He’s looking to help people with spinal cord injuries. If we also develop mind powers, all the better. Wouldn’t that be cool if it allowed us to order things online without having to do all that typing filling out profile forms?
