A consistent piece of the Nebraska volleyball team is on the move.
After two seasons in Lincoln, Keonilei Akana is entering the transfer portal. Akana made the announcement on Instagram Tuesday afternoon.
Akana played in all 53 matches during her two seasons as a Husker. During the national runner-up run in 2021, she led the team in aces and was third in digs. She had a career-high 24 digs in the NCAA title match against Wisconsin.
A defensive specialist, Akana was part of the “Legion of Boom”, as coach John Cook called it, with Kenzie Knuckles and libero Lexi Rodriguez. Akana is likely to compete to play libero at her next destination.
