We’re coming out of Covid just in time to hit a gas shortage.
The shortage experts are pointing fingers at truckers. Actually, a lack of truckers. There’s plenty of oil, just not enough people to man the delivery trucks to the pumps. According to the National Tank Truck Carriers, the trade group for the industry, about 24% of available trucks are parked because there aren’t enough people. And it’s not like they can just hire anyone off the street. It takes special certification.
How bad will it get?
They say we’re looking at around $3 per gallon prices. So, not a terrible amount more than what it costs not. However, that could change if hurricanes complicate things. That’s not a joke. Hurricane plus Gulf Coast equals an extra 20 to 50 cents per gallon.
