Another body at Lake Mead. And, what that has to do with 80s sneakers.

Last week I talked about how Lake Mead is drying up and how they found a body in a barrel in the mud where water used to be. I also noted that authorities weirdly said that they expect to find more bodies. Well, they found another one Saturday. Actually this was less “body” and more “skeletal remains”. No other info has been available on that one yet.

But, they’ve figured out that the 1st body in the barrel was dumped in the lake in the 1980s. They’re basing it on the style of tennis shoes and other personal items.

That got me to trying to remembering what shoes were the most popular in the 80s. According to Footwear News, the styles that defined the 80s were: Reebok High-Tops, Chuck Taylor All Stars, Air Jordans, Keds Champion Sneakers, and Nike’s Bo Jackson Cross Trainers. I’m going to throw in my two cents and say that anything Adidas was pretty hot in the mid-80s thanks to Run DMC.
