I love this. A fireproof copy of the book “The Handmaids Tale” is going up for auction. As you may know, there has been a lot of book banning going on in parts of the country and even a couple book burnings.

“The Handmaids Tale” is one of the most banned books in the United States. That’s ironic considering the subject matter of the book where there’s totalitarian rule where censorship is rampant.

Author Margaret Atwood said, “”I never thought I’d be trying to burn one of my own books … and failing.” She said that because this copy of the book is made from Cinefoil which throws off heat. It’s also sewn together with nickel wire. Margaret fired a flame thrower at it and nothing happened. You can watch her do it in the video below. The book is expected to bring in between 50 and 100 thousand dollars. Proceeds will go to a charity that fights for free speech.
