A gas station manager in California was supposed to set the diesel price to $6.99 a gallon. He accidentally set it to 69 cents a gallon. And then hilarity ensued! Not really. The guy got fired. He manned up about it though. When interviewed by a local TV station he said, “”I put all three prices on there, except the diesel. The last one kind of didn’t go. So, I just took responsibility for it and said yeah, it’s my fault.” His mistake wasn’t caught until after hundreds of people took advantage of the situation. The gas station lost over $16,000.
I don’t think I could have filled up and just drove off like all those people. I mean, everyone knows what’s going on with gas prices. If I saw 65 cents a gallon, I would assume it was a mistake because it would seem too ridiculous to be real. I would have pointed it out to someone working there and asked if they were having a special promotion or something. That’s just the way I am.
Turns out the way the former manager is too because he’s started a go fund me page so he can pay the station back for the money they lost. He wasn’t asked to. He’s just doing it.
