A 25 year old woman from Minnesota, Raquel, had the bulging lower abdomen that comes with being pregnant for 7 months. She had to pee all the time and was short of breath. Except that there wasn’t a baby. It was a 10.5 pound ovarian cyst that was causing all these things. Raquel says that people would congratulate her on being pregnant. It began 5 years ago when they found the cyst and it was the size of a softball. She says the doctors said it was nothing to worry about an sent her home.
Did she see Dr. Frankestein??? “I’m not really seeing a problem with that fist size growth inside you’re privates. But if it’ll help reassure you, we can attach a couple bolts to the side of your head. Insurance should cover it. No? How about an extra foot. We can put it in your armpit.”
Then it grew and grew until it was 10.5 pounds. And, inside the cyst was over a gallon of fluid. She had fun with it though. She set up a game where friends and family had to guess the cyst’s weight before they removed it. Her friends even threw her a surprise fake baby shower before the operation. Raquel says she feels normal now that it’s gone, but the best part is that she’s not in constant pain any more.
