Debbie Tomilson saw a black bear had climbed up on her back deck. Instead of locking the door, she opened it and started telling him to go away in what’s been described as her “teacher voice”. And the bear acted like a kid who knew he was doing something wrong, trying to get away from her, looking all ashamed. After about a 30 seconds of her telling him “what do you think you’re doing on my porch” and “how dare you”, the berated bear ran away. She videotaped the whole thing. At one point, the bear seems like he’s going to come back. Debbie gives him a couple of firm “no”s. Then he ran off for good.
