The ice cream snack, Choco Taco, is being discontinued. Someone on Twitter wrote, “They always take the best things away from us”. Not in this case. I find it amazing that they last 4 years much less the 40 they were around. The “shell” portion was never crunchy. They always came out feeling and tasting like cold cardboard. And the chocolate on top felt like kind of chocolate flavored wax. While on the topic, why is Neapolitan ice cream still around? Sure, it has vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, all great flavors, but they never taste quite right. They always taste like the off brand version of something that was made with substitute ingredients.
One of the major ice cream brands was making Fried Ice cream that came in the freezer section that was wonderful. There were crispy bits of cinnamon covered tortilla chips in it with some honey. It was great, but they discontinued it after about a year. That one was deserving of the tweet, “They always take the best things away.”
If you do like them, here are a few different ways to make Choco Tacos at home.
