Tonight’s inspiring story is about a boy who was told he’d never be able to utter a word to the world. Instead, he made a world of difference in other people’s lives.
Zac Du Boulay was born with the muscles in his face and mouth paralyzed. He couldn’t breathe or eat. His first 5 months were living in an intensive care unit for babies. I don’t know what his treatments were but he fought his way through and finally, when he was 3 years old, he said, “mama” on Christmas Day. He learned to eat and speak on his own and recently, at 11 years old, entered and WON an inspirational speech contest. The prize was $5,000……….. which Zac promptly donated a children’s hospital charity.
Zac said, “I didn’t want the sick children’s parents to to be sad or lonely. I wanted to help.” Some of the kindest words in the world from a boy who was never expected to ever speak.
That would be a great ending to this story, but I also wanted to mention that Disney has honored Zac by putting him in their Tales OF Courage and Kindness digital storybook collection.
