A 35 year old Lincoln man is accused of disassembling a stolen motorcycle and destroying security video footage at an apartment complex near 14th and Adams over a two day period.
Sergeant Chris Vollmer says it all began on Friday afternoon when officers were called to the 2300 block of Garfield by a 20 year old man who said his 2003 Kawasaki Ninja was taken some time during the overnight hours.
Two days later, officers were called to the 1700 block of Benton where they found that motorcycle had been partially disassembled. Through their investigation, Vollmer says they identified 35 year old Justin Britthouer as the suspect at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Portia.
Officers determined the apartment building had security cameras that would likely show the suspect disassembling the stolen motorcycle.
While coordinating follow-up efforts to retrieve that video, Officers were called back to the aparrtment a couple of hours later
on a report of someone breaking into the security office.
Officers arrived and found Britthouer inside and took him into custody as he tried to flee. Vollmer says the window to the security office had been shattered and the hard drive of the security system had been removed.
Britthouer was booked for burglary, theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance and tampering with physical evidence.
