Man suing golf course for not giving him truck he won in tournament. I’m pretty sure he’s going to win in court too.

A country club in Arkansas promoted a truck for a hole in one. Now they’re trying to back out. It was difficult to begin with. They specified a certain hole during a tournament. They posted pics of the $53,000 truck on Facebook with the words, “Hole in one on #10 gets you keys to this truck”. Then a guy named Austin Clagett did it last week. And neither they nor the dealership that was part of the promotions will give it to him.

The dealership is trying to weasel out by saying they didn’t have time to buy “Hole in one insurance”. It’s a common insurance for promotions like this. Radio stations do it all the time. It would have taken an hour for them to do it. The country club is laying the responsibility on the dealership. Austin Clagett is now suing for breach of contract.

Technically, the dealership could probably win by giving him the keys, but not the truck since that’s what was advertised. That’d be a jerk move though. If they don’t hand it over, the legal fees and hit from the bad PR are going to end up being far more costly than the value of the truck. Especially now that the story has gone national.
