Wanda Smith was a janitor and a bus monitor at a Texas school. Her dream was to teach. But taking care of three kids as well as an ailing mother made it difficult to find any time to earn the necessary degree. Difficult, but not impossible. Wanda spent NINE years taking night classes.
Now she’s a first grade teacher at that same school she’d previously cleaned. And instead of striving for herself, she goes the extra mile for her students. During the pandemic, she personally delivered school packets to students’ homes. IN fact, she’s worked so hard and been such an inspiration that the mayor of her town declared May 5th Wanda Smith Day”.
