Is This Weight Loss or Torture?

By Austin Michael Jun 29, 2021 | 4:30 PM

Scientists in New Zealand  have come up with a ground breaking new way to help people lose weight……… by keeping their mouths shut.

This thing looks like it’s a medieval torture device. They literally attach these metal things to a couple of your teeth. They have magnets, locks, and bolts in them to keep the patient from opening his mouth wider than 1/16th of an inch. If this is in your mouth, you can’t eat solid foods.

It’s been tested on seven women. They lost an average of 14 pounds the first two weeks. Although, one story I read noted that one of them loves chocolate so much that she would melt some and then sip it through a straw.

And that 14 pounds in two weeks thing. Do you remember the show “The Biggest Loser”? Contestants would always lose 10 pounds the first week. It’s mostly water weight. And it’s not the healthiest thing to lose that much per week. According to most nutritionists and doctors, a healthy weight loss is around 2 pounds per week. That’s the best way to keep it off long term. If you lose too much, you could suffer muscle loss, gallstones, nutritional deficiencies, and your metabolism will slow way down making it even harder to lose weight safely.
