An arrest is made in the shooting of two people in the 2700 block of South 66th Place on Thursday, July 8th. A 21 year old female had been shot in both legs and a 24 year old man had been shot in the arm. Both continue to recover.
Investigators learned the victims had ongoing problems with 23 year old Joseph Thompson and he was seen in their backyard just before the shootings. They told police they had a recent falling out with Thompson.
At 1 a.m. on July 14th, officers were called to investigating a trespassing call at the America’s Best Value Inn at 5600 Cornhusker. Thompson had caused a disturbance while trying to break into a room of a friend. Police located Thompson and he was taken into custody. He was booked for two counts of 1st degree assault, two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and for unlawful discharge of a firearm.
