How long did you keep a slice of your wedding cake in the freezer? Food experts say a year is fine. What about 40 years?
A slice from the 1981 cake from Prince Charles and Princess Diana is being auctioned off next week. Actually, saying it’s THE wedding cake is a bit misleading. They had 23 official cakes made for that day. It will come with printed wedding programs.
It looks fancy. The slice has an entire coat of arms and features a small silver horseshoe with decorative icing.
They say it’s in as good condition as the day it was made, but they advise against eating it. They expect it to sell for $300 to $400.
I’m curious as to who kept it sitting in their freezer this long, probably fawning over it to keep it in mint condition. Did they think they were going to have a huge payday down the line like with a comic book? Because 40 years to make $400 probably wasn’t worth the effort.
