My wife Jenny brought this to my attention a couple of days ago. A woman who had only run two marathons in her life won the bronze at the marathon competition at the Olympics. One of those those, her very first marathon, was to qualify for the Olympic team where she got second place.
Her name’s Molly Seidel. She’s from Wisconsin. And I love her attitude. She said, “I wanted to go and be that person who, when you’re racing, they’re all saying, ‘Who the hell is this girl?’ I just wanted to stick my nose in where it didn’t belong and get after it. The Olympics only happens every four years, you might as well take your shot.” She sounds a lot like my wife.
The only people that beat Molly are professional runners, one who is a world record holder.
