Tonight’s inspiring story is about students giving back to their teacher. Chelsie King teaches at a Maryland school. She had a baby a couple of months ago. Students wanted to invent a device that would help Chelsie’s husband take their baby for a walk.
You see, her husband had brain surgery a few years ago to remove a tumor. It left him in a wheelchair.
So, they went to work on a device that would allow him to be in the wheel chair while safely walk the baby. It’s basically a frame that extends off the front of the wheel chair that can hold the baby in a carrier. But it did take a lot of work testing it for strength and durability.
And the most import part is that it changed lives. Chelsie’s husband said, “I never thought I’d be able to do something like this safely. I feel wonderful. I feel ecstatic.”
And the students, they also won a couple of international awards for their design.
