Who still has their high school class ring? Someone stole mine 2 months after I got it and I didn’t bother getting a new one. That was 32 years ago. Maybe, though, if I make it another 10 years, it’ll magically come back to me like Terry Bruce in Tennessee.
Terry was playing Frisbee back in 1979 when his ring slipped off his finger. It happened as he tossed the Frisbee and the ring just slid up his finger and off into the distance on the release. He and his friends spent a long time scouring the grass looking for it, but never found it.
Somebody else did. A guy with a metal detector found it 7 inches under the dirt about 8 years ago and took it home. There it sat until the guy’s wife became a volunteer at the same high school Terry had been at. She pulled out the old year books and tracked him down.
After describing the ring, Terry was reunited with his old ring at his old high school.
I am kind of confused as to why the guy who found it kept it for 8 years. Was he keeping those semi- precious stones around just in case they fell on hard times and needed to sell them for enough money for a tank of gas or a couple of pizzas? Honestly, what are you going to do with someone else’s high school ring, put it on and tell untrue stories about how you were the star quarter back? I would have taken it to the high school and asked if they could somehow find the owner.
Watch him putting it back on for the first time after 42 years on this video.
