Usually when toddlers are unhappy sitting in Santa’s lap, they’ll cry, fidget, or both. Not Samuel Spencer. He literally sent out an S.O.S. and he did it with a look on his face that was like, “Hey, got a problem here and I’m trying to keep it on the down low so this scary guy in the red suit doesn’t notice.” And actually, no one noticed until the picture was developed.
Samuel’s mom taught him and his siblings sign language when they were babies. None are deaf. She said it was just easier to communicate with them that way.
So, when Samuel got uncomfortable with Santa, he started signing S.O.S. Everyone was so caught up in the moment that they didn’t see it until the picture came out. You can see his hands making the sign while he looks off to the side like he’s looking for a little help. The photo has now been retweeted thousands of times.
We taught our baby sign language. This is the sign for “help.” You’re welcome. pic.twitter.com/i6NkxBf4KP
