A 683 pound sapphire was found in Sri Lanka. Try putting that on a ring or crown and wearing it around. Seriously, 683 pounds of blue sapphire. It’s so big that it has its own name, Queen Of Asia. Apparently Mabel was already taken. The Queen of Asia is owned by a gem company who have determined that it’s one of the rarest gem stones ever. But, they haven’t had it formally appraised. However, speculation is that it’s worth more than $100 million.
High quality sapphires are very rare, way more than diamonds. Jenny bought me a star sapphire ring when we were first dating. I took it in to get cleaned some years back. The jeweler told me I’m lucky to have it and hold on to it. I thought they were common. He was like, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no.” Apparently I’d been swinging some big bucks around every time I pointed at something. I don’t care about that. The sentimental value outweighs any cash amount you could put on it.
