A ring has been found in an ancient, Roman era, shipwreck in the Mediterranean Sea. It’s a ring that they believe has a picture of Jesus as a young kid carved into the gemstone. It shows a boy holding a sheep and apparently the title “Good Sheppard”. It’s a band of gold. I can’t tell what kind of gemstone it is. None of the articles I read say. The carving on the stone is in really good condition, very detailed and it’s easy to see the picture. It’s not what I’d expect from something that’s been in the sea for a thousand years or more. I’d think it’d be more worn away from being pushed around in the sand. The etching almost looks new. So, I’m a little skeptical about this thing.
But if you want to check it out, there are some good shots of it in this newscast.
