Since it’s a new year, I got to reminiscing about some of the fad fitness stuff through the years. I remember, back in the late 70s, a friend’s parents had one of those machines where you wrapped a belt around your waist and all it did was shake your body. People believed it broke up fat to make them skinny. There were the “8 Minute Ab” videos in the 80s. Jane Fonda promised Buns Of Steel in 1987. There’s been Jazzercise, Hula Hoops, Bowflex, and who can forget Richard Simmons with “Sweating To The Oldies”? He wasn’t really a fad though. He did smart exercise and nutrition and he really wanted to help people.
What about 2022? After researching multiple articles and lists, I found that most agree that hybrid workouts will be huge. These are a mix of smart home equipment and going to the gym. Wearable fitness technology will remain a big deal as it gets smarter about your workout and body. And a third thing that showed up on a majority of the lists is exercising outside.
