UNL Dance Marathon
Meet Kaden! Kaden is a very active guy, he loves camping, kayaking and playing sports. One day he thought he had a cold that wouldn’t go away and he was drinking a lot of water. His doctor gave him an antibiotic but things got worse. He didn’t want to play with friends… even at a birthday party. He lost weight and in just two weeks he ended up at Children’s Emergency and was rushed into intensive care! Kaden’s blood sugar was over 600 when he entered Children’s. Normal is 70-140 depending on when you last ate.
Today, Kaden is doing so much better. He uses a Dexcom and pump to keep his numbers in range, allowing him to do all the activities he enjoys like camping, playing video games, hanging with his friends, and cooking. Kaden loves animals, he has five dogs, and is always asking for more animals.
When Kaden attends Dance Marathon he enjoys the game room and learning all the fun dances.
Kaden has interest in becoming a vet or a teacher when he grows up. With the support of the pediatric endocrinology team he sees at Children’s Specialty Pediatric Clinic in Lincoln, Kaden’s diabetes is under control and he’s loving his life.
Please support the University of Nebraska Dance Marathon today with a donation towards HuskerThon. All funds raised will go towards helping Children’s with a new operating room, and ensuring kids like Kaden have access to critical life-saving treatments and healthcare services.
