A lot of places and people have stopped using Russian vodka in protest of the invasion of Ukraine. New Hampshire’s Governor actually signed an executive order telling liquor outlets to remove Russian vodka. I fully applaud the sentiment. However, in the words of Inigo Montoya from “The Princess Bride”, I do not think that means what you think it means. What I mean is that the majority of Russian vodka that people are pouring down the drain isn’t actually made in Russia. The Vodkas that Americans drink the most of are Smirnoff, Ciroc, Tito’s, Absolut, Svedka, Grey Goose, and New Amsterdam are made in Sweden, France, The UK, and right here in the United States. In fact, less than 1% of vodka drunk in the U.S. actually comes from Russia. The truth is that the brands that are made in and shipped from Russia aren’t popular brands you’re going to find a lot of places. But if you do want to boycott real Russian Vodka, here they are: Russian Standard, Beluga, Stolichnaya, Mamont, Polugar, and Zyr.
Here are the actual Russian brands of Vodka you can boycott, not Smirnoff.
