Man Threatens To Stab People At Convenience Store

LPD Officers were sent to the U Stop at 10th and Lincoln Mall after an employee called to report there was a man threatening to stab people in the parking lot and inside the store.  This happened at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, March 31st.

Officers located 45 year old Alan Varela and he was taken into custody. He had a 5″ fixed blade knife on his person.

Varela was taken to jail and booked for terroristic threats, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

The arresting officer also believed that Varela was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
