Scientists have invented chop sticks that make food taste better. They work by running an electrical current through the food from the chopsticks. Electrical current in food and eating utensil leaves me feeling a little wary. Have you ever stuck your tongue on a 9 volt battery? They say it’s safe though. The science here is that the current transmits sodium ions from food through the chopsticks to the mouth where it creates a sense of saltiness. This means you can use less salt on your food. Ergo, you can eat healthier and still get flavor. This is kind of a big deal in Japan and other Asian countries because they like using salt. A lot of flavors are based on salt and mayonnaise in Japan. Now, if they could invent chopsticks or a fork that makes everything taste like it’s got extra mayo in it, I’d be all over that. Better yet, cheese. Someone invent a utensil that electrically injects the flavor of cheese into everything and I’d just have to cook elbow macaroni. It’d cut the calories by 75% if you make mac and cheese the way I do.
You laugh, but I’d like to point out that the guys who invented these chop sticks also came up with a TV you can lick to taste things on video.
