Tesla workers forced to stay in factory: sleep, eat, everything there during covid lockdown.

If you thought Covid lock downs here were bad, be happy you’re not in Shanghai. Fortune magazine, and other sources, are reporting that workers at a Tesla factory there aren’t going to be allowed to go home. Instead, they have to eat and sleep on the factory floor. Tesla will give each employee a sleeping bag and mattress…. Which makes it better, I guess.

There will also be specially designated areas for showering, eating, and entertainment.

I worked at Ford New Holland in Grand Island on the factory floor. I don’t know what it’s like in a Tesla factory, but it got up to 120 degrees at night at New Holland. There was a cafeteria, but nothing that would lend itself to being a shower. I mean, the men’s bathroom had one of those big circular wash areas that 10 guys could stand around and all wash their hands at the same time. I suppose one of those could be converted into a small bathtub.

Tesla isn’t the only company doing this. General Motors and several other biggies are keeping people at work.
