Pilots jump plane to plane mid air. One fails. Video of extreme stunt in blog.

Two pilots, flying their planes close to each other, both shut off the engines, jumped out of their planes, and tried to get into the other guy’s plane to start it up again and fly off. This was a stunt that went half right, half wrong on Sunday night.

Luke Aikins and Andy Farrington jumped out of their respective planes, but only Luke made it in to the other one. Everyone is safe afterwards, but a plane did crash. Which leads me to wonder how they even got approval to try this knowing that planes could crash into the ground or each other. And they must have gotten FAA approval because the whole thing was streamed live around the world and sponsored by Red Bull.

In an interview after, they said, “This is the best outcome of a bummer situation.” Yes, plane crashing, bummer. Just like when you accidentally step in a mud puddle with your good shoes, bummer. Luke, by the way, is the guy who sky dived without a parachute. He jumped out at 25,000 feet and landed in a net. You might remember that from about 6 years ago. He’s since said he’d do it again.
