Couple gets 5 mill because of golf balls hitting house.

A couple just won a $5 million settlement because their house was continually being hit by golf balls. I kind of don’t feel sorry for them because they bought a house that is next to a golf course. I had a friend that tried to get me to look at homes near a golf course. Nope. First, the prices are always way more than not on a golf course. Second, I’ve never understood why the prices are that high when your property is in constant danger of being pegged. And the view…….. of a golf course and people playing on it. Why is that considered a plus?

Anyway, they sued after their home was hit by over 600 golf balls saying that the course didn’t do enough to protect their home. The claim said they couldn’t enjoy their home and windows were often broken, etc. Again, I have to wonder if they would have complained about the noise if they bought a house next to train tracks. Their lawyer told the news, “They thought they were buying golf-course-view property and what they ended up buying was a golf-course-in-play property.” Because, it’s so hard to check out the situation before you spend nearly a million dollars on a house. So hard.
