Turns out Mike Tyson wasn’t the first celebrity biter. Debra Winger bit another actor and lost a role because of it. She was supposed to be in “Romancing The Stone” with Michael Douglas. Apparently they had too much to drink at a dinner one night. Michael described it like this, “We walk out and, just as you would kind of go ‘Oh you!’ and give someone a little punch in the arm, she goes ‘Oh you!’ and she reaches over and she bites me on my arm. I’m like, ‘Aaargh!’ She bit me. She’s joking and I’m looking at her and go, ‘I don’t know, I’m thinking this could be rough…’ she’s broken the skin. I break down in tears, ‘I can’t go into the jungle with her, she bit me, look! She bit me in the arm.” Afterwards, he told the director that he wasn’t ready to work with her because of it. Kathleen Turner stepped in and ended up winning the Golden Globe for Best Actress.
Celebrity bitings: There was Debra Winger in the early 80s. Then Mike Tyson bit off Holyfield’s ear in 1997. And that same year, sports announcer Marv Albert was accused of biting a woman while he wore women’s underwear. I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about biting in the Johnny Depp, Amber Heard case.
