Scientists say they’ve worked out what a black hole sounds like. But wait, how can you hear a black hole when not even light can escape it? Well, it’s more the sound of a black hole spitting out its food. Black holes are known to shoot out jets of particles at almost the speed of light. It happens when they are eating stars. The streams of particles create x-ray light echoes.
And that’s where they lost me. Suffice to say, that people much smarter than me have worked up a simulation of what they say a black hole sounds like. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a 1950s, “green men from outer space are coming to get us”, sci-fi movie.
