1/3 of Gen Z-ers don’t know who Beatles are. 1/2 don’t know Prince.

A new study found that one third of Gen Z members have no idea who the Beatles are. That sounds ridiculous to me, but I’m surprised it isn’t more. Radio hasn’t played Beatles for years. There are a couple specialty shows, but they only pop up in ultra- classic rock stations on Sunday mornings. Honestly, when I was managing a record store in college, there were tons of kids in high school and college who had no idea who the Beatles were back then, 30 years ago.

The study also found that half of Gen Z don’t know who David Bowie is or even U2, Queen, and Prince. Those are a little harder to believe. Especially Prince. How is possible to NOT know anything about Prince?

I told Jenny about this and she said, “I don’t like Prince music.” I replied, “But you know who he is. He’s transcended multiple genres: rock, pop, soul, funk, easy listening…..”. Maybe in 20 years if you don’t know Prince, I’ll understand. Right now, though???
