A bit of nerve wracking video from the San Diego Zoo is making the rounds on the internet. Somehow, a stray dog made its way into the gorilla enclosure. He’s looking around in that goofy dog sort of way, like he’s lost, but not too worried about it. Then the gorillas notice him and they start chasing him around. You can hear gasps from the crowd. Watching, it kind of looks like the dog thinks he’s playing with the gorillas because he runs right by one and then by a group of others. When I watched a second time, I noticed that his tail was all the way down and almost between his legs. So, I think he recognized that the gorillas could do some harm. Zoo staff eventually got the gorillas out and the dog was rescued and taken to a shelter.
They don’t know how he got in. That worries me. Because if a clueless dog can find a way in, it’s probably a way that the gorillas could use to get out. And the next thing you know, they’re kidnapping damsels and climbing tall buildings where they’ll fight fighter planes from World War 1. It’s happens all the time.
